Wish You Were Here showcases vintage postcards from the early 1900s, when Gustav Roedde and his family lived in a handsome Victorian home at 1415 Barclay in the West End.
Roedde House was restored in the 1980s and has been a museum since 1990, showcasing the way early Vancouverites lived.
The golden age of postcards was from 1900 to the First World War, after advances in printing technology allowed for the mass production of photographic images.
Vancouver has always been a tourist mecca, and the exhibition is filled with postcards from Stanley Park, including a rare early view of a bridge across Lost Lagoon, when it was still connected to Coal Harbour.

POTSDAM Several streets in the village will be paved starting the week of Monday, Aug. 2.
Weather permitting, the streets will be paved in the following order: Barclay Street, Popular, Hamilton Street, Riverview Drive, Lower Bay Street, Chestnut Street, Missouri Avenue, Walnut Street and Cherry Street.
Motorists and people living on those streets should be aware that streets will be closed to all traffic during paving, and driveway will not be accessible for 3-4 hours afterward to allow the pavement to cool.
Work starts daily from 6:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Be observant for paving crews.
Those who live on streets that will be paved and need to get out should move their vehicle prior to the paver crossing their driveway.
The Army & Navy’s former complex uniquely punctures through the city block, fronting both West Cordova Street and West Hastings Street.
The larger north parcel at 36 West Cordova Street, with a four-storey building, containing over 100,000 sq ft of total floor area, was first built in 1893. It still boasts a heritage brick frontage, spanning a considerable street frontage length of 245 ft (75 metres).
However, the south parcel, a 1913-built, five-storey building at 15 West Hastings Street with about 35,000 sq ft of total floor area, has lost all of its heritage value over the years due to decades-old retrofits that removed the original facades. Currently, this smaller building is leased to the municipal government and BC Housing for use as a temporary homeless shelter with a capacity for up to 60 people. The shelter opened this past spring as part of a broader strategy to end homeless encampments.
