Not only did Barre City Police Officer David Wallant have to adapt to changes in his duties because of COVID-19 so did people in his community.
Wallant, 25, said that when the pandemic hit last March, the department quickly adopted new procedures to help prevent the spread of the virus. Among them: responding to fewer calls in person except those involving violence or the threat of it and handling more cases over the phone.

A man who has made numerous appearances on the “Howard Stern Show” has been arrested on an arson charge in Vermont after he allegedly admitted to a correspondent from the radio show that he intentionally burned his house down.”
Mark “Bigfoot” Shaw Jr., 63, was arrested by police in Barre City on Wednesday on an outstanding warrant for first-degree arson in connection with a December apartment building fire, police wrote in a press release.
Police note that they had received a call from Sirius XM Radio, advising them Shaw admitted to the radio show’s correspondent Wolfie over the phone that he burned his house down and lied to police about knocking over a candle.”
