President Muhammadu Buhari has taken over completion of the 20 Megawatts Farin Ruwa Hydropower project initiated by the Nasarawa State government within 24 months, reports Igbawase Ukumba
Available statistics from the consulting firm for the Farin Ruwa Multipurpose Dam project – Kwarra in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Poseidon Tech Limited, showed that the Farin Ruwa Hydropower project has a dam with an earthfill embarkment with a cress length of 745 metres and a height of about 65 metres. The dam also has a reservoir capacity of 73 million cubic litres, with an area capacity of about 5.3 kilometres sqare.
Nevertheless, the statistics revealed further that the Farin Ruwa Dam’s risen water level storage to fill up to the annual average flow will be about 420 metres. Daily Trust reports that between January and February, at least 212 people had been killed with at least 65 injured in 10 local government areas of Kaduna State. With Igabi, Chikun, Giwa, Birnin Gwari and Kajuru suffering the most attacks in the last two months, attacks were equally launched on communities within Kauru, Zangon Kataf, Kachia, Zaria and Lere local government areas.

In the afternoon of February 27, 2021, seven people were killed when about 50 bandits, moving on motorcycles, invaded Anaba village in Kerawa ward of Igabi Local Government Area in Kaduna State. Twenty-year-old Basira Nuhu, a mother of one who was in a neighbouring village at the time of the attack, said she was immediately apprehensive when news went round that her village, Anaba, was under attack.

Seven people have been killed by bandits and several more injured with properties destroyed and cattle rustled in a series of separate attacks occurring in Igabi, Giwa and Chikun local government areas of Kaduna.
Meanwhile, ground and Air patrols conduct sweeping missions across Birnin Gwari, Igabi, Giwa and Chikun local government areas killing several bandits and destroying camps.
Commissioner for Internal Security, Mr Samuel Aruwan, made these known in a statement on Thursday.
In the first incident, bandits stormed Gangi village of Igabi local government and started shooting sporadically in what seemed to be a cattle rustling operation.
According to Aruwan, in the process, four residents were killed, including Wada Sulaiman, Amiru Saidu Yusha’u Mohammadu and Osama Abdulwahab.
