The Hillcrest boys golf team makes the trip to Wapello tonight to take on the Indians at Heritage Oaks in a Southeast Iowa Superconference dual. The Ravens are 2-0 on the dual season after wins over Highland and Louisa-Muscatine to start the year. At Columbus Junction against L-M Tuesday, Hillcrest beat the Falcons 211-221 led by medalist London Schrock with his personal and team season best round of 44. On the year Luke and London Schrock lead Hillcrest with 46 averages per nine holes. Jace Rempel has a 58 average, Josiah Beachy 70 and Alex Niemeyer 81. Wapello enters with just one event in the books so far, a sixth place finish at Tuesday’s Nike Invitational hosted by Burlington Notre Dame where they shot a team score 445 led by freshman Zach Harbison with a 107, taking 20th place individually. Action starts tonight at 4p.m. and continues into the evening at Heritage Oaks outside of Wapello. ....
BELTON â A new subdivision straddling the Bell County and Temple line is now cleared for further construction. The Landing at Heritage Oaks â located south of Temple both inside and outside city limits â was unanimously approved by the Bell County Commissioners Court for its final plat Monday in a 5-0 decision. The 28-lot subdivision is 21.33 acres and will consist of single family homes, with six lots wholly or partially in Temple city limits. The subdivision is on the southern side of FM 93, half a mile to the east of Taylorâs Valley Baptist Church, 2497 W. FM 93. Precinct 1 Commissioner Russell Schneider, who represents a portion of the subdivision, voiced concern along with other commissioners about the siteâs drainage. ....

Dogs are set to be allowed off-leash in Los Altos soon, under a pilot program. After more than a decade of discussion, debate and research, Los Altos pet owners may finally have a place to let their dogs out. The city council approved the implementation of an off-leash pilot program at Hillview Baseball Field at its meeting Tuesday (Nov. 10), with the start date and length of the trial period to be determined. Although staff had also recommended approving an off-leash hours program at Heritage Oaks Park, the council opted to operate the pilot program solely at Hillview, after hearing from neighbors living next to the park who voiced opposition. ....
