REAL izangoma say they’re tired of fakes. They said these people lure unsuspecting amathwasana into their indumbas with the promise of training, but then rape them. The real izangoma are on a mission to clean out such dirty indumbas. On Thursday, they went out in numbers to raid and confiscate the certificate of a gobela whom they claimed allowed another gobela to rape a thwasana. After taking the certificate, they marched on the streets to condemn the abuse of amathwasana.

Agnes Shikwambane (47) claimed gogo Margaret Khumalo said she was a sangoma, and took her cash. The two met in 2013 at a friend’s wedding and became friends. Later Agnes received a large payout from the Road Accident Fund after her husband died in a car crash in 2015.
