Long Island University s Palmer School of Library and Information Science announced today the opening of Digitizing Local History Sources, a groundbreaking five-year project and website offering the public access to over 51,000 images from 40 participating historical societies across Long Island. The endeavor was funded by a $1.5 million grant from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation.
An early 1900s automobile from the photo albums of William K. Vanderbilt II kept at the Vanderbilt Museum, included in the Digitizing Local History Sources project.

Stacy Villagran, a resident of West Babylon, NY, was promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer for the Suburban Hospital Alliance of New York State and its regional hospital associations the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council (NSHC) and the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association (NorMet). NSHC represents hospitals on Long Island and NorMet represents hospitals in the Hudson Valley.
Villagran most recently served as the Senior Director of Health Insurance Programs for the agency.
