Back in 2009, even they had no idea pickleball was a thing.
Twelve years later, the trio was honored by the Mount Vernon Pickleball Club at their meeting at Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 9. The three of them were the official ribbon cutters at the opening of the area’s newest pickleball facility.
The two newest pickleball courts are not so new at all. They were designed and built a few years ago to facilitate some of Mount Vernon’s youngest athletes. The two courts were specially designed to allow beginners some as young as 5 years old to learn how to play tennis. The addition of extra wind screens on the fences and the painting of pickleball lines on the court’s surface will allow a greater number of people to use the courts more often.
