The Nigerian Unity Forum (NUF) and Pan Nigeria Presidency of Igbo Extraction Coalition (PANPIEC), have warned against any threat to democracy in the country.
The groups insisted that myriads of security challenges bedevilling the nation were a result of the absence of good leadership in Nigeria.
The groups, however, cautioned against any military coup that could truncate the current democratic system in the country.
They stressed that a military regime was no longer in vogue in the world and advised the military to subject itself to civilian governance.
NUF and PANPIEC gave the warning following the security crisis in the country and calls for a military takeover by a respected lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Robert Clarke.
Mazi Sam Ohaubunwa, a former member of Presidential Advisory Committee on Subsidy Reinvestment & Empowerment Programme,(SURE-P) and current President of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, has expressed deep concern over deteriorating conditions of things in the country.
Ohuabunwa lamented that the country is being run in an opaque manner and needs to be redirected for the good of all.
The Abia born Pharmacist, who is the convener, The New Nigeria Group, in a statement on Sunday, posited that the government as presently constituted is so lopsided and Nigeria cannot work like that.
Ohuabunwa who used the opportunity to announce that he would be joining the nation’s presidential race ahead of 2023 general elections, said every Nigerian who wants peace and unity must support power shift to the South-East.
