Copper Trail Brewing Co. in Alexandria is warning Facebook users to beware a fake account pretending to be the brewery.
Author Oscar Wilde once said, Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness. Well, if that s true, then Copper Trail Brewing Company in Alexandria is the latest victim of greatness. The brewery took to Facebook Wednesday to issue a warning of another Facebook account pretending to be Copper Trail. ALERT!!! There s a FAKE FB account copying our posts. PLEASE do not accept their friend request or click their link to a giveaway. Copper Trail s post goes on to say they re working on getting the fake account removed and asks the public to also report the account to Facebook if they should see it.

At its Dec. 14 meeting, the Alexandria City Council voted to increase the maximum annual benefit that firefighters receive through the city’s Firefighters Relief Association to $8,403 per year of service in 2021, an increase of 1.5% from this year, which is the same percentage city staff received.
Under state law, the maximum annual benefit is $9,400.
The city pays for the benefits through investments in the Firefighter Relief Association Fund. The fund made enough money this year to cover the increase so no municipal contribution was needed. The city’s 2021 budget includes a levy of $5,000 for the fund and it has a current balance of $93,438.
