Regulatory mechanisms of lncRNAs in cancer glycolysis

163 are also involved in resistance to cisplatin, temozolomide and 5-fluorouracil via altering glycolysis in gastric cancer, glioblastoma and CRC, respectively. Interestingly, Fu et al reported that lncRNA plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) maintains Myc expression in Sjögren’s syndrome. This expression regulates proliferation and immune effects of CD4 + T cells by controlling glycolytic metabolism. 164 Investigating the role of the PVT1-T cell glycolysis axis in tumor models may provide a novel insight for improving T cell-based immunotherapy. The important role of lncRNAs-mediated glucose metabolic reprogramming in cancer adjuvant therapy, as discussed above, makes them promising targets for treating cancers. Several studies have revealed that siRNA, antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9) may be promising methods of targeting lncRNAs.

WVXU Going Round The Corner For New Series

Jim Nolan / WVXU In addition to covering the big stories of the day, WVXU has launched a community storytelling initiative to seek out the people, places and events that make Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky unique. For Round the Corner, a WVXU reporter will spend several weeks getting to know residents, business operators and leaders in one neighborhood, suburb or a community of folks, like say, veterans. First up: The Cincinnati neighborhood of Roselawn. Cincinnati Public Radio listeners heard the first stories last week, when Jolene Almendarez reported on Cuc Le, 74, the Vietnamese refugee and mother of 10 who has been cooking at her family s Song Long restaurant since 1985.

Vietnamese Refugees Make Song Long A Family Tradition, Neighborhood Staple

Credit Kevin Weber / WVXU All the kids that could work, we would go to school and then come here (to) work evening shifts, Le recalled. And my sisters were in college so they would even work some day shifts. That hasn t changed much. Le got a degree in political science from the University of Cincinnati. Most of his other siblings graduated from college, too. Only a few of them still work at the family business full time, but most of them chip in to help when needed.

Round The Corner

Round The Corner The people and neighborhoods of our region have fascinating stories to tell, and WVXU is committed to telling them. Round the Corner is our community storytelling initiative, shining the light on the fascinating people, businesses, history, and events that make Greater Cincinnati such a fascinating place to live, work, and raise a family. The first Round the Corner community is Roselawn where WVXU reporter Jolene Almendarez has been spending the last several weeks meeting with community leaders, business owners, and longtime residents. Her first story, about the popular Vietnamese restaurant Song Long, is posted below. Additional stories from Roselawn will air on 91.7 WVXU and 88.5 WMUB, and stream on wvxu.org, the WVXU mobile app, and on your smart speaker.

Amid pandemic, Little Saigon restaurants keep cooking -- for free -- to nourish the needy

The man in the beanie cap and frayed sweater rolled up in his late-model SUV, leaning out the window on the driver’s side. “They told us to come here for the food. Is this the right place?” Tan Nguyen asked as he surveyed the high school volunteer handing out hot lunches at the Recess Room restaurant in Fountain Valley. He and his wife, Susan Tran, live alone and are sheltering in Santa Ana. He’s 81, and Susan is 84. She’s fallen on her hip and has dizzy spells, so cooking is a challenge. But a westernized meal service isn’t an option for them. They said they don’t eat macaroni or cream of mushroom soup preserved with plenty of sodium.
