Paso Robles High School Athletes of the Week
Mackenzie Ruppe
Year: Freshman
Coach’s comment: The Bearcat Girl’s swim athlete of the week is Mackenzie Ruppe. As a freshman at her first league championship on Thursday, she set two new school records! As the breaststroke leg in the 200 Medley Relay (1:53.09) from 2019. Individually she broke the 100 Breastroke record (1:09.38) from 1996! An amazing day in Arroyo Grande for an outstanding freshman.
– Coach Michael Sauret
Year: Sophomore
Coach’s comment: Justin has done an exceptional job this swim season. He broke the 5-minute barrier in the 500 freestyle at the CCAA League meet and secured a second-place finish in that event. He also finished 6th in the 200 Freestyle. Justin is the only Paso boy to have earned a CIF automatic qualifying time for the 2020-2021 school year.
Year: Freshman
Coach’s comment: Dominic Marquez is a 9th grader at PRHS. Dominic has demonstrated some major commitment to the wrestling team this year. I have seen tremendous growth in him as a wrestler. Dominic is learning how to compete at the highest level and if he continues with his commitment we will see big things from him in the sport of wrestling. – Coach Nate Ybarra

Bearcat: Sage Adams
Year: Class of 2021
Coach’s comment: Sage Adams is a senior and after having only one chance to compete her junior year she had patiently and enthusiastically waited for her next opportunity to compete. That day finally came Monday, April 17, competing at Santa Ynez High School. She showed she was ready to rise to the challenges of the times. She performed a 6 dive list receiving 8, 8, 7.5 scores on her first dive, a forward 1-1/2 somersault. With a brand new dive for Sage, back 1 somersault 1-1/2 twist, she put up scores of 7.5, 7, 6. Her 1st place finish with a score of 224.25 is just shy o
Bearcat: Hannah Chambers

Coach’s comment: Senior Hannah Chambers had a great day in Saturday’s doubleheader against Mission college prep. In game 1, Hannah had 3 hits with 2 home runs. A 2 run shot in the 3rd inning and a Grand slam homer in the 6th. Hannah came on to pitch in relief of Brooklyn Pesenti for the save. She started in the circle for game 2 and earned the win. She scored 3 times in game 2 as well. The senior put in a full day’s work.
