The coronavirus pandemic and lockdown have left many artistes in dire straits, forcing some to run the households with meagre wages.
Due to persistent unemployment and hardships, deserving artistes in Punjab have received urgent relief cheques from the government ahead of Eid.
According to Pakistan Film Distributors Association Chairman Chaudhry Ijaz Kamran, “This will be the first time since the formation of Pakistan that films will not be released in cinema halls for the second consecutive year on Eidul Fitr.” ....

A superstar actor, director and producer in his heydays, Ejaz Durrani remained active in Lollywood from 1956 to 1988, bidding farewell to the industry with
Maula Baksh. The veteran, Pakistan’s first diamond jubilee hero in both Urdu and Punjabi films, passed away in Lahore on Monday morning, following a prolonged illness. He was 86 years old.

Born on June 24, 1938, Rahi was an actor, producer and screenwriter who established himself as one of the leading and most successful performers in the Pakistani cinema. In fact, he was known as Pakistan s Clint Eastwood . During his 40-year career, he acted in some 703 Punjabi films and 100 Urdu films, winning around 160 awards. ....
