JAMMU, July 6: Irate residents of Roop Nagar, Durga Nagar, Laxmi Puram Chinore and adjoining localities held a strong protest demonstration and blocked Bantalab-Jammu road for hours together in protest against the power and water crisis in the area.
The protest was led by Corportors Kapil Chib and Rekha Manhas besides the large number of activists of Durga Nagar Welfare Committee led by Roshan Lal Raina and Ravinder Bakshi also participated along with a large number of activists of adjoining areas.
They accused the PDD authorities of their total failure in maintaining power supply in the area due to which people have suffered a lot in this hot and humid temperature. The protestors said that despite collecting hefty fee from consumers in these localities the PDD has failed to ensure proper supply of electricity which remains off for hours together or often plays hide and seek. The Covid-19 death toll in Ladakh has surged to 190, while 88 fresh cases pushed the overall tally to 18,750 in the union territory, officials said on Wednesday. Amid the surge, WHO is helping the UT by providing the much-needed oxygen concentrators, which help stabilising COVID patients in the valley.

LEH, May 8: National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) donated four fully-equipped and fabricated critical care life support ambulances for highway incident management to the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The ambulances were handed over to the UT administration after duly inspected by the Chief Medical Officer, Leh.
In a short event at Deputy Commissioner Leh office, the ambulances were flagged off by the Chairman/CEC LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson.
Member Parliament Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; Principal Secretary, UT Ladakh, Pawan Kotwal; DC/CEO LAHDC Leh, Shrikant Suse; CMO Leh, Dr Motup Dorje; General Manager, NHIDCL RO Ladakh, Prashant Surela and officials/staffs of NHIDCL were also present on the occasion.
