Longtime Lake County Board member, forest preserve commissioner and champion of stormwater management Craig Taylor of Lake Zurich has resigned.
Taylor was appointed in 2009 to the 19th District seat covering Lake Zurich, Barrington, Deer Park, Kildeer and portions of Long Grove. He was elected to three subsequent terms and built a reputation as a humble, diplomatic and knowledgeable elected official who acted in best interest of and made an impact on the area and county he served.
A former Lake Zurich village trustee a resident of the village for 45 years, Taylor is retired from United Airlines, where he worked in management for 40 years.

Local residents are urged to take advantage of a new recycling program designed just for unwanted electronics items, so-called e-waste. A plan to collect such e-waste from local pickup sites with the help of Rotarians of their communities is under way and is seeing initial success., mirroring over 12 years of the parent program by Blue Star Recyclers in Denver, Colorado.
The program employs those with disAbilities who may otherwise find difficulty in gaining employment. The capital A in disAbilities is intended, as the workers, many autistic, have proven to have the appropriate abilities for these jobs. A niche for such workers to find success and display dependability has thus been established, and society is gaining in the partnership.
Teasel tussle continues in Long Grove The Long Grove Park District will be continuing its fight this year against invasive teasel plant often spotted along area roads. The ground war against invasive teasel in Long Grove will resume in the spring.
Backed with a $10,000 grant from the village, the Long Grove Park District for a third consecutive year is leading the campaign against the intruder.
