These local experts have special knowledge of their regions of the state and their favorite recommendations for guests with specific needs, but first here’s some background on how the Ambassadors came to be. As do so many great things in New Hampshire, it all began with a casual conversation between colleagues. This one took place a little more than 25 years ago. Judi Window was executive director of the Southern NH Convention and Visitors Bureau at the time, and was sharing a vendor booth with people representing the state of New Hampshire at the Made in NH Expo. Located in the town of Falmouth, the Cape Cod village was named one of “40 American towns you haven’t heard of but should visit ASAP” by Town & Country magazine last week. Home to historic landmarks, world-class science centers and an array of shops and restaurants, Woods Hole is viewed as a must-see. ....

In addition to seeing all the roadside historical markers, we were also taking part in the Five Hikes Challenge sponsored by the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. One of the hikes was in Champlin Forest in Rochester. It was nice to take a peaceful walk in the woods, followed by a socially distanced visit with friends, in between drives to markers. What is now the Governor’s Inn and Restaurant in Rochester is the combined estates of two brothers, Huntley N. (1869-1955) and Rolland H. (1873-1942) Spaulding. Each served as governor of New Hampshire. ....
