The new charges against Letresse Tareke Williams, 30, stem from his Feb. 4arrest at a Kenneth Avenue home by the Western Pennsylvania U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force. He has been in Westmoreland County Prison since then.

A judge on Tuesday ruled that defense lawyers for a New Kensington man facing a potential death sentence for the death of a 2-year-old can hire a medical expert to evaluate and potentially refute prosecution evidence at his upcoming trial. Keith Dale Lilly Jr., 31, has been in the Westmoreland County Prison without bond since May, when he was charged with first-degree murder and other offenses in connection with the April 24, 2020, death of 2-year-old Mikel Fetterman. Prosecutors contend the child was severely beaten and died as a result of injuries, some of which dated back several months, according to police.

An Arnold man who was shot and killed at a New Kensington housing complex in January died because of a robbery gone bad, according to a criminal complaint. Authorities said Letresse Tareke Williams, 30, of New Kensington, planned to rob Anthone Williams, 31, in a section of the East Ken Manor housing complex that has been closed since the 1990s. John W. Clark, a detective with the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, said he doesn’t believe the two men are related.
