During the past two weeks, Pence reportedly experienced symptoms associated with a slow heart rate. After consulting with his doctors, Pence had the pacemaker installed Wednesday. The procedure was successful, and the former vice president is expected to return to normal activity in the coming days, according to his office. In 2016, upon being named the Republican vice presidential nominee, Pence disclosed he had an asymptotic left bundle branch block. The procedure took place at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia, but in a new statement released to USA Today, Pence thanked his Indiana doctors as well.
