(NewsDakota.com) – Construction progress continues on the Taylor Stadium renovation’s, but the public is being reminded that they are not allowed on the premises as crews continue to work. “Construction is finally rolling with excavation and progress that is visible,” University of Jamestown Physical Plant Director Ramone Gumke reports. “It’s exciting and fun to check in and see it firsthand.” “While checking on progress is welcome and fun, it is now an active construction zone, so be aware that no one is allowed into the site,” Gumke added.

Viking Women Open Up Conference Play With Win

VALLEY CITY – (vcsuvikings.com)The Valley City State women’s basketball team opened conference play in the win column, taking a 71-67 victory over Dickinson State Saturday. Dani Schwanke’s 13 second-half points paced the Valley City State comeback, including a pair of free throws and layup drive late in the fourth quarter to ice the Viking win. Valley City State improves to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in the North Star Athletic Association. Dickinson State falls to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the NSAA. “To start conference play 1-0 is a huge step in the right direction for this team and I couldn’t be more proud of them. We had a lot of girls step up at different times in the game and we were able to string together stops when it counted down the stretch.” said head coach Vanessa Johnson. “We have to keep working to clean up the little parts of the game, but overall excited to see what this group can do!”

Central Valley Health Moving to Daily Testing in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Central Valley Health District will begin conducting daily COVID-19 testing Beginning December 14th through December 22nd. Central Valley Health Unit Administrator Robin Iszler says they’ve been conducting weekly testing at the University of Jamestown on Tuesday’s and the Civic Center on Friday’s. Staring December 14th, they’ll test daily on weekdays from 10 AM to 12 PM. Iszler says these testing events will be using the BinaxNow system, a rapid testing tool.
