Now, in an effort to bring some version of the festival to the public in 2021, Winter Stations has announced a new, modified spring schedule that includes stopping in different locations for a special and warmer edition of the exhibition. The Beach will always be our home and we have every intention of returning on Family Day in 2022, the organizers said in a statement.

Since the Canadian winter typically keeps most people from hitting the beaches, the annual Winter Stations competition in Toronto has been trying to bring crowds back in creative ways: now in its seventh year, four winning designs and one student entry have been selected to be installed as temporary winter art installations in the coming weeks.
Under this year s theme Refuge, design teams had to envision structures that offer refuge from the elements while also incorporating existing lifeguard towers spaced across the city s Kew and Woodbine beaches.

The winning designs for the seventh annual Winter Stations in Toronto’s east end Beach district have been revealed alongside new partnerships with The Distillery District and Beach BIA.
With plans for the annual winter art show impacted by provincial lockdowns, these partnerships, along with sponsorships from the Ontario Association of Architects, Minto Communities, MicroPro Sienna, Context Development, RioCan, Urban Capital, Demirov Group, Parallax, Westdale Properties, Bousfields, kg&a, Sali Tabacchi Branding & Design and Meevo Digital will ensure the stations will be exhibited in 2021 once lockdown restrictions are lifted. For now, there is no exhibit timetable as Winter Stations is working with local officials on when to proceed.
