Editor s Note: This story has been updated to reflect Hoke County Schools decision to have remote school through Jan 8.
As Cumberland County School officials mull when to return back to in-person instruction, parents and teachers share similar mixed opinions about whether or not they d like to be back in the classroom.
In September, Superintendent Marvin Connelly Jr. presented the board a plan for returning back to in-person learning.
The board voted 6-3 against implementing the plan because of a desire to see “positive metrics” in the fight against COVID-19.
Connelly presented an updated plan to the board in November, with the board approving a staggered entry beginning Jan. 7 for traditional calendar schools and Jan. 11 for year-round schools, pending positive COVID-19 metrics.
