Valley News - Local roundup: Thetford's Marshis tosses no-hitter to top Oxbow

Local roundup: Thetford’s Marshis tosses no-hitter to top Oxbow Ethan Marshia Modified: 5/22/2021 11:42:30 PM BRADFORD, Vt. Two of Thetford Academy baseball’s three losses this season have been no-hitters. On Saturday at Oxbow High, the Panthers were finally on the right side of that feat. Junior Ethan Marshia dominated against the Olympians, holding them hitless in a 4-0 Thetford win. Two walks and an error separated Marshia from a perfect game. He struck out eight in his complete-game no-hitter. “Ethan pitched extremely well today,” Panthers head coach Phil Chaput said. “He mostly used his fastball to keep Oxbow hitters off balance early and used his breaking ball in the late innings to continue to keep them off balance.”

Valley News - Local roundup: TA track sweeps Windsor meet

Local roundup: TA track sweeps Windsor meet Knute Linehan Modified: 5/15/2021 10:19:12 PM WINDSOR One point was all that separated the Thetford Academy boys track and field team from Bellows Falls at Windsor High’s Murphy-Morse Complex on Saturday. One point, though, was all it took to give the Panthers a winning margin over the Terriers to complete a sweep of the meet after the girls team ran away from the field. Knute Linehan leaped his way to three wins for the Thetford boys, taking the top spot in long jump, triple jump and high jump. Tobin Durham added a win in the 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 20.37 seconds. Ben Mattern won the 3,000 meters in 11:23.87 for the Panthers.
