GREEN RIVER In a night worth celebrating, 20 Expedition Academy High School (EAHS) earned their diplomas Tuesday night.
Of the 20 students, 16 were in attendance at the graduation ceremony that took place at the Lincoln Middle School auditorium.
Graduate Laurence Leahy kicked things off by leading the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance before graduate Kathryn O’Toole gave the welcoming address.

MaryAnn Wilde and Maddie Kocher were the two student speakers who talked about striving for your goals and reminisced about their time at EAHS.
Guidance Counselor Andrea Steffen gave an teary-eyed speech as the graduation speaker where she spoke about how proud she is to have been able to work with each and every one of the graduates.
GREEN RIVER A Green River resident and parent of children who attend Sweetwater County School District No. 2 (SCSD No. 2) schools asked for the Board of Trustees to “take a stand” against mask use within the schools during Tuesday night’s school board meeting.
Charles Hafner addressed the board Tuesday night, questioning why students are still being required to wear masks when the statewide mask mandate has expired. The statewide mask mandate ended in March, however, health orders still require the use of masks within schools when social distancing cannot be maintained.
“I don’t know why we’re still making our kids wear masks,” Hafner said.
GREEN RIVER Expedition Academy High School sent 10 pieces or art to the Wyoming State Art Symposium held April 24-26 in Casper, Wyoming. Expedition Academy students brought home eight blue ribbons awarded by art teachers from around the State of Wyoming.
EA students who competed were sophomores Aris Calzada and Ceyda Gunduz and senior Laurence Leahy.
On the night before the show opened, Gunduz competed with Green River High School students and took second place in the Newspaper Fashion Show Competition. The students had a chance to see art by other students from across the state and were able to visit the Nicolaysen Art Gallery to view work by Salvador Dali.
GREEN RIVER Expedition Academy High School (EAHS) has brought in a furry friend to accompany students to their classes as part of a pilot dog program.
The dog has been in the school for about nine weeks now, but EAHS just received unanimous approval from the Sweetwater County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees to keep the dog in the school through the remainder of the school year.
Ralph Obray, EAHS Principal, said the dog’s purpose in the school is to help calm students, promote a positive atmosphere, and better the students’ mental and emotional health.
