Jill Biden is a Jersey Girl by birth and at heart.
While she mostly grew up outside of Philadelphia, she also lays claim South Jersey roots, having been born in Hammonton during a weekend visit to her grandparents house and spent much of her childhood in the state s southern counties. (The First Lady also lived for two years while a grade schooler in Mahwah, Bergen County.)
First Lady Jill Biden, who turns 70 on June 3, even identifies herself as “a Hammonton girl,” which is what she told a local paper during an interview there last year while visiting as the former Second Lady of the United States in July.

Jill s parents had three daughters â Jill, Jan, and Bonny â then twins Kim and Kelly 10 years later. The three older girls shared a bedroom in Hatboro before the family moved to Willow Grove, the Montgomery County town where Jill spent most of her childhood. âI was kind of rebellious,â Jill told the Philadelphia Inquirer last year. âI loved to pull pranks and I would sneak out of school and run-up to the hoagie shop that was on the corner, those kind of things â innocent things.â

The soon-to-be first lady was born Jill Tracy Jacobs on June 3, 1951 in Hammonton, N.J. to parents Donald Jacobs and Bonny Jean Godfrey.
Biden is the eldest of five sisters, according to a profile in The Philadelphia Inquirer. The family of seven later moved to Montgomery County first to Hatboro, and then to Willow Grove where she later attended Upper Moreland High School.
