Carson City expresses thanks to Kinderland owners at picnic

On Saturday, more than 160 people showed up to Rosetta and Malah McFaddenâs final farewell at their retirement picnic at Bowers Mansion in Washoe City.
Families, friends and many of the students theyâd taught in the 57 years theyâd worked at Kinderland in Carson City came to thank them for the service before they prepare to leave Nevada in August for Oregon.

The Petrilla Fire started Wednesday afternoon off Cheyenne Drive in Pleasant Valley. It was first reported as a 2- to 3-acre brush fire. Hours later, it grew to an estimated 300 to 350 acres and prompted heavy traffic in south Reno and many highway closures.
