BROCKTON A Boston woman pretended to be a police officer and a Salvation Army worker during a string of thefts last month, according to Brockton police.
Carla Gomes Darosa of 40 Boylston St. faces 16 charges related to at least three thefts in Brockton before Christmas. Police say there may be additional victims from other thefts dating back to October.
The thefts began Dec. 23 in Brockton when she allegedly took a wallet from a man on Bunker Avenue, according to police. Surveillance video showed Darosa looking through mailboxes in the victim s building in the early morning.
Later, Darosa visited a Montello Street home and told residents that she was a police officer and searched their home. Victims said she didn t show identification and that she took a wallet, Brockton police said.
