Singer/songwriter Katarra Parson will perform at the Music at the Intersection festival in September. The festival will feature performances from more than 60 regional and national artists.
A new music festival coming to St. Louis in September aims to highlight local musicians and get fans back into music venues.
Music at the Intersection will run Sept. 10-12 at six venues in the Grand Center area. The festival will feature more than 60 jazz, R&B, blues, rock and soul musicians from the region and national artists. The festival is presented by the Steward Family Foundation and the Kranzberg Arts Foundation.
“We ve historically been known for birthing genres, trendsetting players, and we wanted to build a festival that really celebrated that past, really showcased and highlighted all of our St. Louis favorites today, and then put them next to artists that had a real relationship and a connection to St. Louis,” said Chris Hansen, executive director of the Kranzberg Arts Foun
Honoring Dr. Dorothy Elizabeth Steward’s great appreciation for education and her passion for music, the University of Central Missouri on March 10 celebrated her life through the dedication of a music practice room that will have a longtime impact on UCM students developing their performance skills.
Located in the Utt Music Building, this medium-sized room is one of the practice rooms that are utilized every day by music students. It has been renovated with funding from two anonymous donors as well as the UCM Alumni Foundation to include a new soundproof door, freshened paint, and new acoustic panel sound absorbers. These updates will reduce and control reverberation time at medium and high frequency, helping to eliminate echo and soften the resonance mode effects in the room. St. Louis jazz singer Denise Thimes knows going to see a concert these days isnât what it used to be â not with a pandemic raging.
Thatâs why sheâs grateful for those who will show up Dec. 20 for her Blue Strawberry debut, where she performs two shows.
