Governor Whitmer has chosen Chad Newton, the Chief Executive Officer of the Wayne County Airport Authority, to serve on the board.
He is replacing former EMU Regent Rich Baird, who resigned in January.
Newton will serve on the Board of Regents until December 2026.

YPSILANTI, MI – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Friday that Chad Newton, CEO of the Wayne County Airport Authority, has been appointed to the Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents.
Newton replaces Rich Baird, who resigned from his position on the board in January after being one of several individuals charged in the Flint water case.
Whitmer says severance deals are common, but other top staff left without them
