Auckland landlord must pay $6k after water damaged home not repaired for two years

What must landlords do when they rent out a house? Brenda Patrick described the house as smelling due to the rotten wood and said her husband had experienced breathing difficulties due to the damp, mouldy living conditions. She told adjudicator Nicole Walker they had been unable to use a water damaged bathroom for about a year. A maintenance business described the vanity as being “beyond repair” and a liner around the bath had failed in places. ISTOCK The Tenancy Tribunal again ordered the landlord to repair or replace many items in the bathroom and kitchen of the Wiri house. (File photo)

Lulu Wang has owned the property since 2015, according to property records.
