Eight Ways to Enjoy the Chinese New Year | Cigar Aficionado

Share There are plenty of ways to ring in the Chinese New Year, but at Cigar Aficionado, we like to celebrate it the way we celebrate almost every occasion with cigars and spirits. According to the Chinese zodiac, 2021 is the Year of the Ox, and the cigar industry has joined the party by releasing limited-edition smokes and accessories that match the theme. In Chinese culture, eight is a lucky number and is associated with wealth and prosperity, so we selected eight items as a festive way to honor the spirit of renewal and hope that the upcoming year will be better than the last.

An obvious take on Kung Pao chicken, the new Punch Kung Pow! cigar measures 6 inches by 52 ring gauge and has a suggested retail price of $5.99 each. “The medium-to-full-bodied blend is vaguely sweet with an undercurrent of spice, just like the popular Chinese food dish of the differently-spelled name,” said Ed Lahmann senior brand manager for Punch. Made in Honduras at the HATSA factory, Punch Kung Pow! is rolled with a five-country blend: Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, Honduran binder and filler from Brazil, Honduras, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
