PU employees demand allowances July 20, 2021 LAHORE:Punjab University (PU) teachers, officers and employees held a joint press conference here Monday and demanded grant of Disparity Allowance to all grades of university teachers, officers and employees. The press conference was organised by the PU’s Joint Action Committee in which they made a unanimous demand for the provision of 25pc Disparity Reduction Allowance to teachers, officers and employees from grade one (BS-1) to twenty-two (BS-22) without any discrimination. In the matter of Utility Allowance, they demanded the grant of the allowance without any delay. Teachers body demands allowance July 9, 2021 LAHORE:Executive Council of Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA) has flayed the government for allegedly depriving teachers and staff of the universities of Disparity Reduction Allowance. According a press release, PUASA president Prof Dr Mumtaz Anwer demanded an amendment to the notification related to Disparity Reduction Allowance and demanded immediate grant of the allowance for all teaching and non-teaching staff without any discrimination. A general body meeting of the PUASA has also been called on July 13 on the issue. It was reaffirmed that PUASA stands by FAPUASA Punjab chapter in its rightful struggle. ASA reiterated its stance for the restoration of ante date appointments and time scale promotions for the teaching faculty.

For the first time in its history, the Punjab University syndicate’s meeting was held without six elected faculty representatives on Monday. It was 1,742th meeting of the body. The tenure of the elected faculty representatives of the syndicate ended in February 2021 and the university administration had announced the election for April 28. As the university was closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Syndicate election was cancelled, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed formed a three-member committee to look after the election of Syndicate issue.
