We join the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office in remembering Deputy Frank D. Genovese, who was killed during a standoff with an armed suspect in Greenacres on June 3, 1982.

More local members of law enforcement are getting vaccinated for COVID-19.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw tells me they did a survey recently, only asking whether or not employees has received the vaccine. I think we re, agency-wise, approaching between 50 and 60 percent which is good. We d like to be up to 75 percent because then we could say as an agency we had the herd immunity.
The sheriff says regardless of what happens, the deputies working in the jails will continue wearing masks on the job. We re dealing with people that we have no idea whether they ve gotten vaccinated or not. Generally we find that the people that we take into custody, they re just not medically taken care of as good as the general public to start with.
Around 100 of the folks from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's dispatch and IT team are working out of the PBSO headquarters in West Palm Beach, which is undergoing renovations. They want the county to move them, but no decision has been made.
