SBP appoints 13 banks as primary dealer of government securities for FY 21-22

The State Bank of Pakistan appointed 13 banks as Primary Dealers (PDs) of government securities and two companies as Special Purpose Primary Dealers (SPDs) for Financial Year 2021-22.
According to a circular issued by the Domestic Market and Monetary Management Department of SBP, after evaluation of received applications under the laid down criteria the central bank has selected 13 applicants for appointment as primary dealer while 2 other institutions were selected for the role of SPDs of government securities-PIB and MTB.
Primary Dealers appointed for FY 2021-22 included Habib Bank Limited, Allied Bank Limited, Bank Al-Falah Limited, JS Bank Limited, National Bank of Pakistan, MCB Bank Limited, United Bank Limited, Pak Oman Investment Company Limited, Faysal Bank limited, Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited, The Bank of Punjab, CitiBank N.A-Pakistan Operations and Industrial and Co

The Sindh cabinet has approved a Rs4.021 billion compensation package for people affected by the heavy monsoon rains earlier this year, and requested the federal government to match the grant/compensation so that the affected people could be rehabilitated in letter and spirit.
The cabinet also decided to exempt the affected small traders and growers from federal and provincial taxes to compensate them for the losses they had suffered due to heavy downpour in 2020. The meeting was attended by all ministers and advisers, Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah and other officers.
The board of Revenue on the directives of the cabinet had conducted a survey of the people affected by the monsoon rains this year. The survey revealed that the heavy rains claimed 149 lives, left 103 people injured, destroyed 7,120 pacca and 75,195 katcha houses, and partially damaged 9,102 pacca and 171,463 katcha houses. Islamabad, December 09, 2020 (PPI-OT): The Sindh Cabinet has approved a Rs4.021 billion compensations for the heavy rain affected people of the province and requested the federal government to match the grant/compensation so that affected people could be rehabilitated in true letter and spirit. The cabinet also approved tax exemption the small traders and growers from federal as well as provincial taxes just to compensate them for the losses they had suffered due to heavy downpour in2020.The meeting was attended by all the provincial ministers and advisors, chief secretary Mumtaz Shah and other concerned officers.
