Good News: Chiropractor named JAX Chamber's top small business leader


Chiropractor
Bridget Edkin, owner of Slainte Chiropractic, was named the 2021 JAX Chamber Overall Small Business Leader of the Year at a ceremony Feb. 2 at the Schultz Center. 
Edkin, a third-generation chiropractor who opened her Jacksonville Beach practice in 2017, was chosen from the 12 selected as Small Business Leaders of the Year by the Chamber Councils, the Beaches Division and the Entrepreneurial Growth Division.
“We have such incredible talent in our community and it’s amazing what our small businesses are doing in Jacksonville,” said

The foundation presented the Ann McDonald Baker Art Ventures Award to Pena in front of colleagues at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts as the symphony prepared for a concert that night. He has performed with the symphony for 23 years.
“Jorge’s mastery of the viola and contributions to the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra are notable in themselves, but he has gone on to share his passion for classical music well beyond traditional audiences,” said ....

Now that Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan is “pulling the plug” on Lot J, team President Mark Lamping says Khan wants to advance his $535 million plan to redevelop Metropolitan Park and the Shipyards.
The City Council failed to reach the 13-vote majority Jan. 12 to approve the incentives deal for Khan and development partner The Cordish Companies’ $450 million Lot J development in a parking lot west of TIAA Bank Field. 
Khan proposes a Four Seasons hotel for the city-owned land along the St. Johns River and a two-phase medical, residential and office development with public park space.
