Getting Ready for The Season
BREWSTER, Mass – After three decades of operation, Richard and Terry Winslow have sold their eponymous Spirits & Things store to Hyannis residents Nirmal Acharya and Jyoti KC who are the new Owners and Managers of the store.
Winslow’s changed hands in late 2019 and the shop has been evolving over the past year to its current state of operation I preparation for the 2021 summer season. Changes made include new lighting, painting of the building, expanded stock of wines and sprits as well as grocery offerings, additional customer services such as an outside ice locker.

Nauset renovation project is a needed investment
Much has been said about the facts regarding the proposed Nauset High School Project, which should speak for themselves. A “yes” vote will allow for more substantial improvements at a lower rate than alternative options, thanks to a $36 million MSBA grant. Beyond the facts, the emotions surrounding this project should be even more compelling.
If this past year has taught us anything, it’s that schools are beacons of our communities. They have been integral during the pandemic, adapting to serve students’ needs and helping them thrive. Education should be at the forefront of community decisions, as schools and their dedicated employees shape our future leaders. When did we get to the point where education isn’t assumed to be the greatest investment we can make?

ORLEANS Tom Conrad’s long service to the Nauset Public Schools, first as principal of the high school and then as superintendent, will end with his retirement in June. Conrad shared the news at a joint meeting of the Nauset school committees Feb. 3.
“I have been truly blessed to be in public education over 43 years, 29 of which in the Nauset system,” he said. “I am totally grateful to be able to work in a community that values education at the highest level.” Conrad promised to work toward a smooth transition to a new leader for the system.
