John Aniello, is no longer working for the
New Canaan Fire Department, municipal officials have confirmed. Aniello started as a firefighter in August 2006 and that his employment ends Jan. 31, 2021, according to the town’s
Human Resources Department. The fire captain accused of homomisic and racist abuse, Capt.
Robert Petrone, started as a firefighter in May 2001 and remains employed at NCFD, officials said. The town last June moved to dismiss parts of the lawsuit. The two sides have held settlement conferences since August, most recently on Monday, according to
U.S. District Court records.

NEW CANAAN - Although an ice skating rink will probably not be installed this winter, the equipment has arrived and is being stored behind the Carriage Barn in Waveny Park.
It has not yet been determined where the rink will be installed, though the four main town’s parks are being considered.
Law enforcement agencies respond to more than 35 crashes on snow-covered roadways

Five members of a Salesville area family escaped with only minor injuries when the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a rollover accident on Fairground Road Wednesday afternoon.
The driver, Madelyn Caughron, 39, and four children, Becky, 15; Jennifer, 11; Timothy, 8; and Jimmy, 5, were treated at the scene by medical personnel from the Old Washington Volunteer Fire Department.
The accident was one of more than 35 crashes reported on snow-covered roadways in Guernsey and Noble counties as a storm moved through southeastern Ohio leaving behind several inches of snow.
