The name swap is part of a plan being considered by the town that would consolidate the Highway Department, along with elements of Parks and Recreation and Cemetery, into one public works department. In a meeting with consultants Community Paradigm on April 1, principal Bernard Lynch said the recommendations came after meeting with town officials, employees and residents, and making comparisons with other communities. Although “the system has worked well over the years,” with a nice facility and good personnel, Lynch made the recommendation for the consolidation.
