Today marks fifth anniversary of 2016 April War

Today marks fifth anniversary of 2016 April War Five years have passed since the 2016 April War in Artsakh. Azerbaijan unleashed a large-scale offensive along the entire Artsakh-Azerbaijan contact line on the night of April 1 to 2, using almost all types of military equipment in its arsenal. The clashes, traditionally dubbed “the Four-Day War”, continued until April 5, with  the fiercest battles occurring in the south (Hadrut) and south-east (Martakert) directions of the contact line. The adversary used heavy artillery, armored equipment and aerial vehicles to infiltrate deep into the defensive lines of the Artsakh Defense Army and occupy tactical positions. The Azerbaijani army performed artillery attacks on the peaceful settlements of Artsakh and permanent posts of several military units.

The crux of Biden s foreign policy: JCPOA or East Asia?

Modern Diplomacy Published 1 month ago Since President Joe Biden was inaugurated on January 20, returning to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal has been quite controversial in various terms. The barriers for Biden’s administration to revive the JCPOA have been discussed extensively. In fact, there exist ingrained obstacles to reviving the JCPOA by the U.S. in terms of lifting sanctions. These deeply rooted barriers are sanctions that are tied to the issue of terrorism as a policy that Ronald Reagan’s administration embarked on. It identifies Iran as a terrorist hub under American law.  Anticipating Biden’s likely intention to reenter the JCPOA and offering some sanctions relief to Iran, this policy was intensified by Trump’s team in a bid to make it difficult for Joe Biden to lift Iran sanctions.

Laz Ude Eze: Rising deaths, triggered by COVID-19, sustained by weak health systems

Laz Ude Eze: Rising deaths, triggered by COVID-19, sustained by weak health systems Published A couple of days ago, the co-founder of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates’ counsel was widely reported in the Nigerian media to have counseled the Government of Nigeria to prioritise the development and strengthening of its health sector rather than focusing on the COVID-19 vaccines. “There is no doubt that the impact of putting money into the health system, particularly the primary healthcare system will be very high in terms of saving children’s lives. Nigeria should not divert the very limited money that it has for health into trying to pay a high price for COVID-19 vaccines”, Mr. Gates said in response to a question on Nigeria’s plan to invest about N400 billion to vaccinate 70 percent of Nigeria’s population at $8 per vaccine.
