As Nigeria marks World Immunization Week for 2021 celebrated from April 24th – 30th every year, it is important to highlight the use of vaccines in mitigating vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) and to measure the progress of Nigeria’s journey for self-reliance. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the primary objective of the week is to emphasise the value of vaccines in preventing diseases that were hitherto perceived as life-threatening. This World Immunization Week seeks to highlight the importance of vaccines as a “public good that saves lives and protects health” whilst also allowing development. The theme of 2021 is “Vaccines bring us closer”.

Chandigarh: As active Covid cases in the state surged to 11,942 lakhs, with daily positivity rate climbing to over 5%, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday urged the Centre to review its immunization strategy to vaccinate all age groups in selected areas, while announcing a stricter policy to deal with the problem.
The Chief Minister also called for occupation-based immunization for school and college students and teachers, judges, bus drivers and conductors, Panches/sarpanches, Mayors/Municipal Committee Presidents/Counsellors, MLAS, MPs etc. to pave the way for normalization of crucial activities and check super-spreaders. NCOC holds Special Session on COVID-19 Vaccine Strategy

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Thursday held a special session on COVID-19 vaccine availability and efficient administration to mull over the National Vaccine Strategy being devised to amicably ensure the immunization process.
The NCOC meeting discussed the epidemic curve chart data and the National Vaccine Strategy.
