ISLAMABAD: The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Tuesday announced the sighting of the moon for the holy month of Ramazan across Pakistan, hence the first of Ramazan will begin on Wednesday (today).
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met in Peshawar on Tuesday after 17 years for moon-sighting. Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and the Ministry of Science and Technology were also part of the meeting, reports Geo News.
Meanwhile, zonal committees from other cities also joined the meeting virtually. Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, had earlier said that the nation will observe the first fast (Roza) and Eid the same day.

The moon for the holy month of Ramadan 2021 was sighted in Pakistan on Tuesday evening, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced.
The first of Ramadan will fall on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. A meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held today to sight the crescent moon of the blessed month.
Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad presided over the meeting in Peshawar.
This was the first Ramadan moon sighting by the Ruet committee under Maulana Azad, who was appointed chairman of the body by the federal government in December last year, replacing Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.

Doha: The crescent moon marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan was sighted in Qatar today.
The Moon Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that tomorrow, Tuesday, April 13, 2021 will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
This came in a statement issued by the Committee after its meeting this evening at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, chaired by Dr Sheikh Thaqeel Al Shammari.
