A friendly outdoor prayer and praise service drew more than 50 people to Jack Ewing Park Thursday evening, May 6, 2021 in Pratt on the National Day of Prayer.
“It was just a a beautiful evening to gather together and worship,” said Pastor Scott Powell, Abundant Harvest Church of the Nazarene. “We couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was just perfect.”
Powell was joined on the outdoor stage by members of the On the Hill worship and praise band who led music interspersed between prayers and comments by many local pastors, business representatives and community leaders.
Rev. Mike McGovney, First Christian Church in Pratt and Cunningham was the emcee for the event and kept the conversation lively, yet meaningful.

Pratt County Health Director Darcie Van Der Vyver RN, told Pratt County commissioners last week that 2,895 county residents have taken the survey requesting to receive the COVID vaccine and that the county’s supply is not keeping up with the demand.
To date, the Pratt County Health Department has received 220 primary doses of the MODERNA vaccine and administered all 220 doses to the Phase 2 population, Van Der Vyver said.
“We administered 250 secondary doses as well,” she said. “So far over 1,020 people have been vaccinated in Pratt County. We still have over 1,800 people remaining on the Pratt County COVID-19 survey waiting list.”

The mood was light at the Pratt Community Center last Thursday as 350 individuals were vaccinated against COVID-19. I m so happy to be here. We are doing our part to stomp this sucker out, said Fonda Pusatero.
In a wheelchair, Pusatero, accompanied by her husband, Al Pusatero, were classified as Phase 1, long-term care supported patients. They had previously registered with the Pratt County Health Department via a needs survey and received a call the day before that it was their turn to get vaccinated.
At the Pratt Community Center they were ushered through several check-points, as were all patients, in an efficient and organized fashion. Checkpoints were manned by medical personnel from the Pratt County Health Department, Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt Internal Medicine Group and Pratt Family Practice.
