Square Mile Investment Consulting has evicted the Lazard Emerging Markets Core Equity fund from its ratings academy following significant investor redemptions.
During February 2021, the fund s assets fell from $100m to $11m. Square Mile said the fund is based on a much larger overall strategy to which Lazard remains committed, and it is managed by lead portfolio manager Stephen Russell using a well-established investment process. However, at the current size, the analysts felt the fund was too small to continue to support within the Academy of Funds.

A fund governance expert has predicted the Financial Conduct Authority will expect fund boards to go further than just delivering reports to show value for money, as Rathbones and Vanguard score themselves near perfect marks on their second value assessments.
It comes as asset managers’ fund boards roll out their second annual assessments for the 2020 financial year. Rathbones and Vanguard recently published their reports and have largely given their fund ranges a clean bill of health.

A near-50% increase in gross sales helped Fundsmith break into the Pridham Report s top ten managers for the measure, as strong performance through the coronavirus pandemic meant Baillie Gifford was the best-selling active house in the UK.
Fundsmith saw its gross sales soar by 45% to £6.7bn, as the firm s flagship Fundsmith Equity offering continued to deliver impressive returns for unitholders, meaning it was the ninth best-selling asset.
