Denver s beloved Nettie Moore dies at 96 Erin Powell Replay Video UP NEXT Nettie Moore was a star of Denver’s West Colfax neighborhood, voicing her opinion on development and advocating for grass root causes over many decades. Moore, who lived in Denver almost all her life, died last week at age 96. She is survived by her family  two children, eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren – though her entire community will remember her legacy as an activist. As an old article on the North Denver News website describes her work as wide-ranging. She fought for lighting and curbs in neighborhoods, got new playground equipment for a local park and worked on community associations. Moore worked in school lunchrooms, fought for bond issues and took it upon herself to write letters to politicians for causes she believed in.

The unofficial mayor of West Colfax lived on Utica Street since 1927, when that part of town was still undeveloped prairie. She spoke with us about her role shaping the city’s growth around her. She knew her pacemaker was failing. Her family will hold an open visitation at the Olinger Crown Hill funeral home in Wheat Ridge on Thursday, Feb. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. COVID-19 restrictions mean only 30 people can be present at one time, so a service will also be live-streamed on Friday at 11 a.m. on the funeral home’s Facebook page. Full Dylan album covered – Modern Times

I like the “Bob Dylan period” of Modern Times a lot,  I play it often. I love it, one of the great albums from the first ten years of the 2000s. This is a post where I have “dug” out some cover versions of the songs on the record, I would say that none of them are as good as the originals, but they’re good and they are interesting. Many of the album’s songs have roots in well-known older compositions, though in all cases, Dylan has given the songs new lyrics. Some of the “cover versions” I have found are interpretations of the old traditional songs, it wasn’t easy to compile this cover selection…
