Yes, what you see before your eyes is a Chevrolet Bel Air, one from 1950. Or, should we say, was, as this thing here looks nothing like the car it is based on.
It’s called Boost, and it is the work of a Utah-based garage by the name Weaver Customs, following an idea by Pfaff Designs. It was shown for the first time in 2013 at the Detroit Autorama, where it snatched the Outstanding in Class Radical Custom. Because, as you can see, it is a radical custom.

We’ve seen countless times how really well-made custom vehicles sell for big bucks a long time after they were made, as they retain all the appeal their builders intended them to have. That’s because in the custom world, time is of no importance.
Take a look at this roadster Camaro. Before getting in the hands of a Utah-based garage by the name Weaver Customs, it was your average 1969 Chevy muscle car, if there ever was such a thing. After Weaver was done with it, it went on to win the Radical Custom Convertible class at AutoRama Detroit in 2014.

We must say we really miss SEMA, the in-person variant of the show that is the highlight of the American custom car industry. Sure, we had some type of virtual replacement to fill in the gap last year, but that didn’t nearly cut it. 6 photos
So, in terms of custom cars and custom hardware, 2020 has been the poorest year since we can remember. We only hope this year will be different, and until we get a sense of how 2021 is going to play out, we’re left with revisiting the great builds of previous years.
