Nafiz Modack will spend at least another week in custody after his bail application was postponed.
This after the magistrate who was supposed to hear the application was reportedly involved in an accident .
News24 understands he was hit in a shooting which claimed the life of a lieutenant colonel on Sunday.
The bail application of alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack was postponed on Monday due to the unavailability of the magistrate, who was understood to have been wounded in a shooting in which a Cape Town police officer was killed.
Modack, Zane Kilian and alleged money launderer Ricardo Morgan are accused of the murder of Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) detective Charl Kinnear.
The Anti-Gang Unit member was assassinated outside his home in September.
Modack will also face attempted murder charges for a failed hand grenade attack on Kinnear.
Alleged Cape Town underworld boss Nafiz Modack, 39, and car salesman Ricardo Morgan, 36, have officially been charged with the murder of Anti-Gang Unit police officer, Lieutenant Colonel Charl Kinnear.
Zane Kilian already stands charged with the murder of Kinnear outside his home in Bishop Lavis on 18 September 2020.
Morgan was granted R50 000 bail before a massive bail application in the Blue Downs Regional Court was postponed to Monday.
He already faced money laundering and racketeering charges before the Hawks confirmed the additional charge.
The rapid response by members of the Maitland Flying Squad resulted in the arrest of five suspects for possession of a prohibited firearm in Delft.
On Saturday afternoon, 01 May 2021, the members pulled over a vehicle on Delft Main Road that was allegedly used during a shooting that occurred at a funeral.
The vehicle was searched and a firearm, of which the serial number was removed, was found.
Five suspects aged between 27 and 35 were arrested and detained at Delft SAPS on a case of possession of a prohibited firearm.
The suspects are due to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 03 May 2021 on the mentioned charges.
