AMCON s Debt Bigger than FG s 2021 Capital Expenditure

By Obinna Chima The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has disclosed that the N4.4 trillion, which is owed the corporation is bigger than the entire 2021 capital expenditure budget of the federal government of Nigeria, which stands at N3.85trillion. The amount owed the corporation is also bigger than the N3.12trillion for total foreign debt service for 2021 and personnel cost of N3.7 trillion in the federal government’s budget. Owing to this, AMCON has called on all agencies of the federal government and all stakeholders to join its debt recovery drive to guide against the huge opportunity cost of not recovering the debt on the economy.

Views: Visits 21 The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has called on all agencies of the Federal Government and all stakeholders to join its debt recovery drive as the company hopes to secure an outstanding N4.4trillion. AMCON in a statement issued on Sunday noted that a failure to recover the debt would further worsen the nation’s economy. According to the agency, the N4.4trillion is bigger than the entire 2021 capital expenditure budget of the Federal Government, which stands at N3.85trillion. If recovered, the agency believes that the money can go a long way in reviving the iron and steel sectors, as well as improving electricity in the country.

Court Registrars trained on handling electoral disputes 18th Dec 2020    |    Source: GNA Thirty-five Court Registrars from the Supreme, Appeal, and High Courts nationwide have undergone training on handling electoral disputes emanating from elections. The registrars are being trained on how to facilitate electoral disputes processes at the courts so that such cases can be handled swiftly and without delay. Justice Samuel K. Marful-Sau, Director of the Judicial Training Institute (JTI) said the training was to equip the participants to function effectively in handling electoral disputes to facilitate early disposal of such cases since it was time bound. The training was in collaboration with JTI and the Senior Staff Association of Judicial Service of Ghana (SSAJUG) with funding from STAR Ghana Foundation.
