ANGLETON â County bars are once again under a closure order and local restaurants can only serve up to 50 percent capacity because COVID-19 hospitalization numbers along the Upper Texas Coast have been more than 15 percent for seven consecutive days.
Other businesses that were allowed to operate at 75 percent capacity are also lowered to half capacity.
The directive comes from the State Department of State Health Services based on Gov. Greg Abbottâs Executive Order GA-32. According to the governorâs order, when COVID-related hospitalizations in a trauma service area reach or exceed 15 percent, thatâs considered an âarea of high hospitalization.â

“We are going to need to look at other sources [of power]. With growth in the Houston area, there are bigger demands for electricity,” said Gary Basinger, the president and chief operating officer of the Economic Development Alliance for Brazoria County.
Plans for industry growth
After years of hearing about solar energy becoming more popular, Basinger did not believe solar energy would be effective in Brazoria County. Suddenly, several solar farms seemed to appear in the county at the same time, he said.
“Over the years, . people have talked about solar, and I said it was too cloudy. I just couldn’t imagine solar being efficient here,” he said.
