The recently constructed footpath along Hobsons Parade in Cowes will be extended along Justice Road to Church Street this month.
Work is expected to start on Monday, 24 May and take up to three weeks to complete, subject to favourable weather conditions and contractor availability. This $45,000 project is being jointly funded by Bass Coast Shire Council and developer contributions and is part of Council’s 2020/21 Capital Works Program.
Appropriate traffic/pedestrian measures will be in place throughout the duration of the works and the contractor will make every effort to minimise disruption to the community while construction is underway.

A Coon Rapids man avoided injury after he collided with a tree while swerving to avoid a deer Wednesday evening. According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Justice Road about halfway between Bayard and Guthrie Center. Authorities say 28-year-old Schyler Andrew Knudsen was traveling northbound in a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup and failed to negotiate a curve due to the deer in the roadway. The truck entered the northwest ditch, struck a curve warning sign and came to rest after striking the tree. The accident was not discovered until Thursday morning, as Knudsen had left the scene. He did not report any injuries, but damage to the Dodge is estimated at $12,000 and $250 to the sign.
