It was 51 years ago Sunday (June 13th, 1970) that the Beatles' "The Long And Winding Road" became the group's 20th and final Number One hit. It was also on this date that the single's parent album, Let It Be, also hit Number One and began the first of its four-week run on top of the Billboard 200 chart. The song was written by Paul McCartney in late-1968, and was recorded in January 1969 during the sessions for the group's album and film Let It Be. It was 53 years ago Sunday (May 30th, 1968) that the Beatles began recording their 30-song self-titled double album, which is commonly known as "The White Album." On May 30th, 1968, the "White Album's" first session was held for John Lennon's "Revolution 1," which was recorded in London at EMI's Studio Two, with the session stretching from 2:30 p.m. to 2:40 a.m. the next day. It was the group's first studio work since returning from Rishikesh, India after an extended stay to study transcendental meditation under the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
