US Records Second Oil ‘Import’ From Iran in 30 Years From Seized Tanker
A cargo of 1.033 million barrels of crude oil from a seized Iranian tanker landed on U.S. shores in March, showing up as an “import” in data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the second shipment of Iranian oil to be brought into the United States since 1991.
The cargo was registered in last week’s EIA data, which recorded it as “crude oil imports” for March, though it came from the seized Liberian-flagged tanker Achilleas, which was transporting Iranian crude when it was taken over by the United States in February off the coast of the United Arab Emirates. ....

More than 50 years ago, North Korea captured the
USS Pueblo and subjected the spy ship’s crew to “barbarity” for almost a year, treatment that “required medical and/or psychiatric intervention” for the men upon their release in December 1968.
Today, crew members and their families face the challenge of finding North Korea’s assets so they can realize their shares of $2.3 billion judgment against Pyongyang handed down by a U.S. district court.
In a memorandum opinion issued Feb. 16 but filed and made public Wednesday, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia stated that “North Korea was liable” for “its incorporated theories of assault, battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, solatium, and wrongful death.” ....

USS Pueblo crew get $2.3 billion settlement for North Korea seizure

The former crew of the USS Pueblo are entitled to $2.3 billion in compensatory damages for the “pain and suffering” they endured while imprisoned in North Korea over 50 years ago, a federal judge recently ruled.
“The crew members aboard the USS Pueblo suffered unimaginable pain during their captivity in North Korea,” Colorado Senate President Leroy Garcia (D-Pueblo) said in a statement. “After everything they endured, these brave Americans and their families deserve to be made whole again, and this decision is a positive recognition of that fact.”
Judge Dabney Friedrich of the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia handed down the decision in favor of the surviving crew members and families of deceased crew members on Feb. 16. It is the conclusion of a case filed by 61 crew member plaintiffs and 110 family member plaintiffs in February 2018. ....
