Cowboy Band The Plains Cowboy Band has been awarded 1st Place in the State Marching Band Championships twice, and placed 2nd three times! They have also been a finalist for Texas State Honor Band (concert band), awarded top honors at the State of Texas Wind Ensemble competition, and have earned many Texas Sweepstakes awards during its history. Canyon Soaring Pride heads to state marching band championships again

Since before sunrise in August to after sunset in November and December, those living near Canyon High have been able to hear music drifting through the neighborhood as the Canyon Eagle Marching Band practices on the football field.
The hours of practice will culminate in San Antonio at 5:12 p.m. Monday, when the Soaring Pride band competes in the UIL Class 4A State Marching Band State Championships in the Alamodome.
Canyon is no stranger to state competition that is every other year and has qualified four times in the last 10 years. This year, under new director Eric Roth, the musicians hope to make the medal stand after finishing fourth in 2018.
